Swami Vedananda was a great yogi. He had followed the path of spiritual progress through spiritual practice for a long time. His knowledge was matured by being constantly engaged in Sanskrit - reading. He was expert of Vedas, Brahmin Granths, Aranyakas and Upanishads. He was also proficient in Vedangas like education, kalpa, grammar, nirukta, chhand, jyotish etc. He had complete authority over the scriptures like Nyaya, Vaiseshika, Samkhya, Yoga, Vedanta and Mimamsa. Poetry, drama, verses, ornate etc. were all present to you in their temporal subjects.
